As an extension of the agency’s Sustainable Capitol Region Initiative and its on-line Green Clearinghouse, the Capitol Region Council of Governments (CRCOG) is once again looking to recognize member municipalities via its Regional Sustainability Awards Program for policies, plans, programs and projects from 2016-2017 that help promote a more sustainable Capitol Region. Nominations must meet the award criteria in at least one of the achievement areas highlighted on the Green Clearinghouse, including: Access and Mobility, Affordable Housing, Economic Growth, Environment, Food Security and Green Infrastructure.
The updated brochure includes details on this year’s awards program, including eligibility requirements, general guidelines, award criteria and the nominations process itself. Submissions are due by Wednesday, May 24th at 4:00 p.m. to Hedy Ayers’ attention at firstname.lastname@example.org. Awardees will be notified in early June and will receive their awards at CRCOG’s Annual Meeting, which will be held on Thursday, June 8th at Dunkin’ Donuts Park in Hartford.
We are excited to offer this program again this year and hope many of our towns will nominate themselves—or even another CRCOG community! We look forward to hearing from many of you about the exciting sustainability work that is already underway across our region and ultimately add to our esteemed group of 2016 winners (Coventry, Hartford, Mansfield and Rocky Hill).
