UCONN to Host 2018 Invasive Plant Symposium

The Connecticut Invasive Plant Working Group (CIPWG) 2018 Invasive Plant Symposium will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at the Student Union, University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT.  The theme of the symposium is: Invasive Plants in Uncertain Times:  Achieving More with Less.  The 9th biennial conference features national, regional, and local experts as well as citizen volunteers sharing practical solutions for invasive plant management and actions needed to promote native species and improve wildlife habitat. 2018 AARP Community Challenge Awards Announced

The AARP Community Challenge is awarding grants to fund quick-action projects — in areas such as housing, transportation, and public space — that spark change and build momentum toward improved livability for all residents. If your idea is big, no project is too small! Grants can range from several hundred dollars for small, short-term activities to several thousand for larger projects. 5th Annual Bicycle Festival/Show/Swap Meeting Scheduled for June 10th

The Wethersfield High School Bicycle Club is hosting its 5th Annual Bicycle Festival / Show / Swap Meet on Sunday, June 10th from 8-12:30.  The event includes all styles and vintages of bicycles. There is something for every cycling enthusiast, and a great place to swap, sell, or buy extra parts and bicycle-related items. Tour des Farms Bike Rides Scheduled for October 6, 2018 in Scenic Litchfield Hills

Since 2003, thousands of riders and volunteers have participated in numerous Connecticut Tour des Farms bicycle rides. Tour des Farms is designed to raise awareness and funding to implement Connecticut Resource Conservation and Development’s agricultural and conservation projects.
